1. Wellness spaces
I can already feel you raising your eyebrows at this one – which is why we thought we’d kick it off here. After the global pandemic, we saw a drastic rise in mental health struggles and subsequently different approaches to supporting our mental health. One of the trends we have seen is draftsmen and architects designing homes that can facilitate and promote relaxation and rejuvenation. We are seeing a rise in retreat-like bathrooms with large luxurious bathtubs and home gyms which are incorporating saunas and cold plunges and space for yoga. We are a big fan of prioritizing mental and physical well-being to help find some balance in this chaotic and sometimes overwhelming life.
2. The Work-From-Home Revolution
Whether we like it or not, technology is a big part of our everyday lives and this year we have seen the drastic impact technology is having on the building sector making almost anything possible; the world now really is our oyster. 5 years ago, it was seen as a luxury to work from home with very few people managing to do it; yet in 2024, it is estimated that as many as 37% of people are working from home. We have seen much more attention being put into plans to accommodate not only adequate but beautiful home office spaces to promote productivity and ensure that working from home is a pleasure rather than a punishment. Whether it’s positioning a standing desk overlooking the garden or prioritizing an extra large office space in new home plans, the extra attention to office space will make working from home much more enjoyable (and profitable) in the long run.
3. Seamless Al Fresco spaces
With more people working from home and spending more time indoors, we have seen an increase in home designs that incorporate al fresco living; think large patios, comfortable outdoor furniture and large glass windows and doors to let lots of light in. We are seeing living spaces expand to the outdoors and focus on reconnecting with nature. We love seeing our clients stepping beyond the confines of their homes and embracing fresh air and sunlight. Many people feel traumatized with being stuck indoors during the pandemic so more designs are focusing on opening spaces up. We are seeing this paired with furniture and styling including earthy natural tones and plenty of indoor plants.
4. Sustainability
At AAG Constructions we have an environmental conscience that influences our culture and the decisions we make on work practices and materials. While we appreciate that environmental sustainability might not be a priority for all of our clients, we can certainly see a trend towards eco-friendly building materials including energy-efficient appliances, solar and electric (which we LOVE). We get excited when our clients are open to having an environmentally responsible approach and have wonderful tradesmen and subcontractors who are ready and equally excited to help.
So let’s raise a glass to our clients of 2024 – we love working with you! We typically book out 12 -18 months in advance so if you are interested in a renovation or build in 2025, please reach out to have a chat with our Director Adam to see if our company is the right fit for your project.
