Lindfield Renovation & Extension

Pleasant Ave, Lindfield

In Collaboration with

Tim & I had worked together previously on his home renovation and extension in Crows Nest several years ago so I was very excited to get the call from Tim to discuss his next project. Tim and Linda had bought an original red brick home on a large, relatively flat block in Lindfield and had plans to do a major renovation & large extension out the back. The existing home was in its original condition and long overdue for a major renovation. It consisted of 3 bedrooms, kitchen, family room and a single car garage. The greatest advantage of this property was that there was ample space out the back which was crying out for an extension.

Tim & Linda wanted to capitalise on the largely unused area out the back and create their dream home. With 2 young children and 1 on the way, it was important for each family member to have their own space for the future and well appointed shared living areas.

"The polished concrete floors are simply breathtaking and the timber, sourced from old railway sleepers, was used as a feature wall to soften the feel of these floors."

Unique to this home was the construction of an internal courtyard, positioned in the centre of the house. This courtyard serves many purposes aside from being its own special feature. It creates additional light throughout the surrounding spaces of the home and provides a line of sight from the entrance of the home right to the back of the property, providing a feeling of luxurious space and depth.

Another unique feature to this architecturally designed home is the polished concrete floors throughout the kitchen, living, garage & external balcony spaces. The internal concrete floors are fitted with under floor heating allowing the floor area the ability to adapt to both winter and summer. The polished concrete floors are simply breathtaking and better still, are extremely low maintenance. Timber sourced from old railway sleepers was used on the TV wall to soften the feel of the polished concrete floors. It is a magnificent detail that can be viewed from all the communal spaces of the home.

To the back of the house is a large polished concrete rear terrace elevated above the new in-ground pool. This is a beautiful space for entertaining with 4m high ceilings supported by two hardwood posts. This space really provides another wow factor to the whole project, large enough to host 100 guests. It is a great transitional space flowing directly off the kitchen and living areas to the pool.

The front of the home was given a facelift with new windows, rendering, roof tiles & garage door, as well as adding a double car garage which can add significant value to the property. The finishes Tim & Linda chose throughout the project really helped to create a masterpiece.

It was an absolute pleasure working with Tim & Linda on their new home. The end result speaks for itself and exceeded all expectations.
