This was one of the most exciting projects we have been involved in as builders. What made this project so exciting was the project’s complexity combined with great clients and a creative and dedicated team.
When we first met with our client’s Tim & Carmel we knew it was going to be a great partnership which is the key to every project’s great success. Tim and Carmel gave us so much trust with their project which meant that we could come up with creative solutions and take this project to the next level. Great project outcomes are achieved through strong relationships. This includes relationships with the clients as well as relationships with the interior designer, sub contractors and engineers. This project is a testament to that fact.
This project involved building a new luxury custom home on Sydney’s North Shore. The project was complex from the outset, as we needed to preserve the existing home’s side brick walls throughout the construction. As the existing home’s side walls were on the boundary, removing them would result in them having to be rebuilt 900mm further inside the envelope resulting in a significant loss of internal floor space.
We were able to prop these walls laterally to allow our excavator enough space to transition from the front of the property to the back where significant excavation was required to complete the new pool works and adjacent retaining walls. All excavation was into rock which comes with the advantage of stability throughout the process. Once out of the ground the project progressed extremely quickly as we were given exceptional weather for several months as we transitioned to getting a roof on.
One of the most striking features of this project was the glass slab, sourced and imported from overseas, which creates a stunning poolside view. This feature serves as a backdrop for the internal living space, allowing the kitchen and dining area to overlook the pool.
From there we languished over the finer details of the project until the project reached completion after only 18 months of construction.
