The relationship that you have with your builder will flavour your building experience and will leave a taste – bitter or sweet, lingering in your new home long after it’s finished. It is not so much the concrete slab that creates the solid foundation for your new home, but the relationship you establish with your builder. Being able to communicate effectively with your builder, will see you reap the rewards in your build. You have chosen your builder in part because you are able to relate to each other, and they understand your ideas. You are off to a great start!

So you have been dreaming about renovating for a long time, and for even longer, you have wanted to make this home your very own. Your hard earned money and precious time will be poured carefully into this project, and you don’t want to spill a drop.

It’s a very important decision and one which deserves your time and careful consideration. Deciding on a contract is, unfortunately, not a black-and-white process, and what might fit well for some might end up costing you more than it should. Like having your first baby, everyone will have an opinion on what you should do and how you should do it – politely smile and nod at their suggestions and don’t feel even a tiny bit bad when you do it very differently.
